Soldiers Point Lions Club were delighted to come to the rescue when the children from Bob’s Farm Public School wanted to decorate the bus shelter outside their School. The Club provided the paints, the boards, and the manpower to hang up the finished artwork. The children designed the painting by themselves, and it depicts some of the animals, birds and plants which inhabit our lovely bay area.

Soldiers Point Lions Club is proud to be associated with the Hunter Medical Research Institute (HMRI) which is a large and prestigious institute carrying out world-class medical research. We were delighted to help highly-regarded Pt. Stephens local, Associate Professor Paul Tooney, in his work to improve treatments for Brain Cancer which is one of the biggest killers of young people, including babies. These photos show the QUBIT 4 Fluorimeter which Soldiers Point Lions and the Australian Lions Foundation were able to help Paul to purchase. It will enable him to speed up detailed measurement of RNA, DNA and protein in samples acquired from around the world in the Hunter Cancer Biobank. The equipment will be used by many scientists and it is always a pleasure to help fund medical research, the results of which affect us all.
